It is never too early to take pictures of Utah Lake! Rain, shine, winter, spring, early, or late — take or find your best photos of Utah Lake! Submit your photos of scenery surrounding the lake, wildlife in their natural lake habitat, or people using the lake for recreational or other activities. Photography prizes awarded to top photos! Two Divisions: High School Students (9th through 12th Grade) and Adults. There will be first, second, and third place winners, Best Overall, and Peoples’ Choice Awards in each category of the two divisions.
- Scenic: Must include Utah Lake
- People: Portraits or people having fun at Utah Lake.
- Wildlife/Birds: Images should be taken at the Lake or surrounding marsh lands.
The purpose of the contest is to highlight the beauty and diversity of Utah Lake and to educate the public about its importance.
- All submissions must be matted and be at least 8” by no longer than 24” inches.
- Include CD of submitted images. By submitting images, you are giving Utah Lake Commission and its partners permission to use the images to promote Utah Lake. Photo credits will be given to the photographer.
- High school students must include a copy of their student ID. High School Division participants may enter up to three (3) photos per $5 entry fee, with a limit of not more than nine (9) total pictures per individual photographer. (Eg. A high school student submitting four entries to the contest would pay a $10 entry fee.)
- Adult Division entry fee is $5 each entry/photograph.
- Submissions are due Wednesday, June 5, 2013 before 6 p.m.

A panel of three professional instructors/photographers will judge the photos prior to the Festival. The public will vote for their favorite during the Festival at the Utah Lake State Park, on June 8, 2013. The winning entries will be announced the week following the Festival. The winning photos will also be displayed at locations throughout Utah County throughout the summer and fall after the Festival.

The Festival—which is free—will be held at the Utah Lake State Park. It offers attendees a chance to get outside to enjoy Utah Lake, experience its many recreational opportunities and offerings, and learn about the lake’s ecosystem, native species, and the importance of stewardship.
