Utah Lake Authority is looking for a motivated conservation intern to work under our conservation biologist to help manage and restore Utah Lake! This internship will take place from approximately May 1st to Sep 1st with flexibility in this time frame. In this position you will shadow a biologist day-to-day, aide in restoration projects, meet natural resource professionals, and learn about Utah Lake. This position is ideal for a college student.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, ecology, or related degree.
- Knowledge and skills with ArcGIS products including story maps, webmaps, and ArcPro.
- Working knowledge of Utah’s wildlife, plant communities, and ecosystems.
- Various field experience working with a wide array of habitat, wildlife and/or water quality data
collection methods. - Ability to effectively communicate internally with staff as well as outreach and education with the public.
Working conditions:
- Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g., working at heights, working in extreme and adverse outdoor weather conditions, etc.
Physical requirements:
- This work requires physical exertion. It may require the ability to hike long distances over all types of terrain in remote locations, carrying equipment to conduct field work, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
