2017 Utah Lake Sand Castle Contest

Beach, sun and sand is what a great summer is all about! This year Good Life Rentals held their first annual Sand Castle Contest on July 8, 2017 at the American Fork Boat Harbor.

The weather was beautiful and the contestants had a great time showing their imagination using just sand. Three groups challenged each other to see who could make the most ingenious sand sculpture to win great prizes. The participating groups had six hours to build their innovative castles.  The City of American Fork and Good Life Rentals recently dumped a combined total of 1600 tons of sand on the beach, making it prime sand-castle building material.

The competing groups had contestants of all ages: children, youth and adults. The event was a great opportunity to play on the sandy beach, work as a team and enjoy the sunny weather. What better way to spend a hot day on the beach than building sculptures in the sand and winning prizes? Prizes were offered by Good Life Rentals including a half day on a pontoon boat, two days of jet ski rentals, and a paddle board rental, among others.

The winner of the first Sand Castle Contest was the Stueck family and their seven-foot garden gnome.Congratulations to them and to all who participated in this great event in which creativity and fun went hand in hand.
