When I think of skimboarding, I think of the ocean. After all, that’s the only place I’ve ever tried skimboarding.
That hasn’t stopped Dillon Manwaring and Ethan Zander from skimboarding Utah Lake, however. The pair are part of a growing number of “flatland” skimboarders descending on South Beach, setting up jumps, and enjoying the amiable conditions.
“The sand is nice and soft and the waves very minimal on the beach,” Zander writes. “There is plenty of space up and down the beach. At most I think a little shoveling would fix up a run if there were any issues, but so far it’s been immediately skimmable both times I have gone.”
Not only that, but Utah Lake’s South Beach “has a very high potential for creating a skimboard scene in northern Utah.”
Who knew?!
