Utah Lake? A popular photo shoot location? No, it can’t be! I know, that’s what you thoughts as you read this title, but it’s true! So many people go to Utah Lake to take pictures. We see pictures of sunsets, wedding pictures, recreation pictures such as: ultra lites, wakeboarding, bird watching, walking dogs, boating, swimming, paddleboarding, and much more! Check our Instagram feed on the right side of this post if you don’t believe me. The pictures of Utah Lake are GORGEOUS!
More and more people are using Utah Lake as a photo shoot location. Just try searching on Instagram, and you’ll see what I mean. #utahlake, #beutahful, and #utahphotography are some I regularly check. Or even check the Instagram locations: “Utah Lake State Park” is a popular one, or sometimes “Utah, Lake”, or even “Utah Lake” and also type any of the cities around the lake (i.e. Vineyard, Lehi, Provo, etc.) and you will find all kinds of amazing pictures!
Today, I want to briefly cover the photo shoot of one company in particular: Bear Butt Hammocks. This company is a startup based right here in Utah Valley by some buddies who met while serving LDS missions together. The company started a little over a year ago, and originated from the fact that the founders didn’t like how much a quality camping hammock cost at the time. Check out this video to learn a little more about the founder, Michael Whiteley.

These guys came down to Sandy Beach at Utah Lake to do a photo shoot for their newest hammock, “The Snap“, a special edition Bear Butt Hammock, highlighting the Bear Butt Snapchat Story. The pictures above show the bright colors of this great hammock, suspended between two Jeep Wranglers for the photo shoot. The setting couldn’t have been better. We got there just before the sun started setting, and the lighting on Utah Lake was simply beautiful. Throughout the photo shoot, these guys were friendly, engaging, and had an overall great time together. If you love the outdoors, and you want to try out a great hammock, check out Bear Butt. As they kept telling us, their motto is “Better Quality, Half the Price”.
If you are looking to do a photo shoot yourself, or just want an amazing setting to take selfies with your BFF, Utah Lake is the perfect place. Now that winter has begun, you may want to dress a little warmer, though.
