From March 7-10, eight residents from the Saratoga Springs Homeowners Association volunteered over 60 hours to remove 21 tractor/haul tires from Utah Lake. Some of these tires were over seven-feet tall and weighed over 1,000 pounds. These tires had most likely been at the bottom of Utah Lake for decades. They are now at the Fairfield Landfill.

In order to remove these giant tires from the lake, the team utilized a 10-ton mini excavator, a seven-ton dump trailer, over 200-feet of chains, Jetskis, and SCUBA divers. Tye Bratton, the volunteer project manager, said they estimate there are 15 more tires that need to be removed when the lake levels are lower. “It’s great to see the residents of Saratoga Springs care for this wonderful lake!” Bratton said in an email.
The Utah Lake Authority is grateful to the Saratoga Springs Homeowners Association for helping to make Utah Lake a more beautiful lake!
