The Utah Lake Authority is now accepting applications for our Marketing and Events Internship and our Conservation Internship. These internships are ideal for college students looking to work in parks and recreation, conservation, marketing or public relations. Both internships are paid, qualify for college credit and begin mid-April.
Conservation Summer Internship
Utah Lake Authority is looking for a motivated conservation intern to work under our conservation biologist to help manage and restore Utah Lake! This internship will take place from approximately April 1st to Sep 1st with flexibility in this time frame. In this position you will shadow a biologist day-to-day, aide in restoration projects, meet natural resource professionals, and learn about Utah Lake. This is a paid position at $18-20/hour depending on experience and up to 40 hours a week.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, ecology, or related degree.
- Knowledge and skills with ArcGIS products including story maps, webmaps, and ArcPro.
- Working knowledge of Utah’s wildlife, plant communities, and ecosystems.
- Various field experience working with a wide array of habitat, wildlife and/or water quality data
collection methods. - Ability to effectively communicate internally with staff as well as outreach and education with the public.
Working conditions:
- Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g., working at heights, working in extreme and adverse outdoor weather conditions, etc.
Physical requirements:
- This work requires physical exertion. It may require the ability to hike long distances over all types of terrain in remote locations, carrying equipment to conduct field work, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.

Marketing and Events Internship
Each summer, the Utah Lake Authority hires a Marketing & Events intern to assist with events and community outreach. This position will work directly under the Communications and Events Manager and will assist with planning, developing and managing five large events, including the Utah Lake Festival on May 31.
This is a paid position at $16/hour and up to 40 hours a week, as well as college credit. The internship runs from mid-April to mid-July, with the possibility of extending to the end of summer. This is an in-person internship based in Provo, Utah.
Duties:
- Manage social media calendar for Utah Lake Authority, including Instagram, Facebook, Threads and TikTok
- Assist with blog posts, a monthly newsletter, and other written publications.
- Oversee and grow the Utah Lake “Adopt-a-Shoreline” program
- Coordinate with volunteers for various projects and events around the lake
- Assist with event development, marketing and management
- Assist with general office duties
Qualifications:
- Proficient in social media management
- Strong writing skills
- Proficient program management
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Independent worker with good follow through
Preferred: College students working toward a degree in Recreation Management, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Events or something similar.
