Last month I wrote about my favorite drive to Utah Lake. But there’s a close second to that one. It’s along North Vineyard Rd, just west of Geneva Road.
Getting there is a little tricky. The easiest way is to head west on 400 South in Orem. After crossing Geneva Road (aka 1600 West), take your first right onto South Vineyard Rd. Follow that until it merges into North Vineyard Rd (aka 4000 North).
You’ll see beautiful green sod farms on your left (pictured) with the mountains behind them. Eventually you’ll wind north with the lake at your left. You’ll be hit with a vast expanse of open water and space only minutes after leaving town. You can continue north along North Vineyard as long as you like, enjoying covered picnic tables, paved trails, and restored shorelines. It’s quite a view and another pleasant nearby get away.
I like to go around 7:30 and 8 pm right now when the sunset is at its best. Like most vistas around the lake, it really is a sight.
