PROVO, Utah (May 3, 2012) — Are you good with a camera? UtahLake.gov is soliciting the most stunning, imaginative, and inspiring photos of Utah Lake and is giving away cash to the winning entry of each category, as well as best overall photo.
This year’s categories include: Scenic (must incorporate lake water somehow), People (portraits of people enjoying the lake), and Wildlife (taken at the lake or surrounding marsh lands). Cash prices will be awarded to best overall photo and first place in each category, as determined by judges selected by the Utah Lake Commission.
Submissions should highlight the beauty of Utah Lake to help educate and encourage the public about its importance. All images will be displayed on June 2 at the Utah Lake Festival, as well as Orem city offices and online at utahlake.gov.
Entry fee: Photographers may enter two photos for $5; each additional photo is $5/per. All entries should also include a CD of submitted photos. Photos must be mounted and matted; at least 8 inches on one side, not to exceed 24 inches on any side. Framed prints will not be accepted. By entering the contest, you agree to let the Utah Lake Commission and its partners use your photos for non-commercial publicity of the lake.
Deadline: All entries must be submitted to Allen’s Camera AT 625 N State, Orem, UT 84057 by May 31. For more information about the contest, contact Carin Green at cgreen@utahlakecommission.org or (801) 851-2900.
